Volunteer Your Services

"To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me." Bhagavad-gita 10.10

Bhaktivedanta College is a not-for-profit educational institution. We are in the beginning stages of our development. To actualize our vision of establishing Vedic culture through out the world we will require the assistance of those who can give that most precious of all gifts, their time. Though expertise in a particular field is desirable, the most important qualifications that they need to have are pure motivation, a sense of responsibility and the genuine desire to serve the Lord and His devotees. Below is a list of volunteer positions currently available. If you find a position below that fits your interests, please contact the BVC by email. If you do not find something that quite fits you or your skills but still think that you could help us we are more than willing to listen to what you have to say. Unless otherwise noted time commitments are variable:

Artha

Artha means economic development. The purpose of the Bhaktivedanta College is to promote Vedic Dharma but as Canakya Pandita has pointed out "the root of Dharma is Artha." With sufficient economic support we can fulfill our objectives.

Fund-raisers: purely motivated persons who can help raise substantial funds for expansion of the Bhaktivedanta College.

Grant writers: activities which we feel are well-suited for outside funding include course development in Vedanta and Jyotish.

"A man engaged in devotional service rids himself of both good and bad actions even in this life. Therefore strive for yoga, which is the art of all work. By thus engaging in devotional service to the Lord, great sages or devotees free themselves from the results of work in the material world. In this way they become free from the cycle of birth and death and attain the state beyond all miseries [by going back to Godhead]." Bhagavad-gita 2.50-51

Web site

Web master: to coordinate the expansion, updating and maintenance of the Bhaktivedanta College web site using Adobe GoLive. Knowledge of Web based education a plus, but do not worry if you do not have it, you will gain it by working with us. We use the Linux platform.

Assistant Web master: to work with Web master.

Graphics artist: to design and produce graphics for the Web and some printed media.

Editors: to help edit academic articles in various subjects (Ayurveda, Jyotish, Vedanta, etc.) for publishing on the Web and paper media.

BVC projects

Computer programming: knowledge of C and C++. We ere envisioning some research projects which would require the skill of an expert computer programmer.

Translators: we have a database of articles in different Vedic disciplines. We want to translate them from English into different world languages such as Russian, Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Translators are also wanted for translating texts (Ayurveda, Jyotish, Vedanta, etc.) from Sanskrit, Tamil, Bengali, etc. into English. The translator should be competent in both languages and be familiar with subject they are translating.

"And of all yogis, the one with great faith who always abides in Me, thinks of Me within himself, and renders transcendental loving service to Me-he is the most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all. That is My opinion." Bhagavad-gita 6.47

Teaching

Course development: we are looking for qualified teachers to develop and/or teach courses in various Vedic disciplines such as Ayurveda, Jyotish, Vedanta, Pancharatrika Agama, Vastu, Shilpa sastra, etc. If you are qualified in any Vedic discipline (whether we presently teach it or not) and would like to teach it under the aegis of the Bhaktivedanta College then please contact the Bhaktivedanta College with your prospectus.

Other Sampradayas: though the Bhaktivedanta College is a Gaudiya Vaisnava institution we are very interested in other Vaisnava lineages (Sri sampradaya, Madhva sampradaya, Vallabha sampradaya, Nimbarka sampradaya) and would like to have courses on these sampradayas taught by members of those sampradayas.

Legal Counsel

From time to time we need to get the legal advice of competent professionals. We would want to maintain an ongoing relationship.

"A person who accepts the path of devotional service is not bereft of the results derived from studying the Vedas, performing austere sacrifices, giving charity or pursuing philosophical and fruitive activities. Simply by performing devotional service, he attains all these, and at the end he reaches the supreme eternal abode." Bhagavad-gita 8.28
